Fashion Icon Style Files: Alexa Chung

Let's face it, Alexa Chung can make anything look a million times more stylish. We could be standing next to her in the exact same outfit and we would look totally uninspiring and she would get papped to the nines...

However, she is still a massive babe of a fashion icon -- and just cuz she could make a binbag look amazing, doesn't mean she goes out wearing one!

Alexa's outfits are relatively simple yet also have those touches of personal style that makes them interesting! (We can all take a leaf out of her book by following the three piece rule!) Today we are taking a look at some of her most recent outfits, do let us know which one is your fave!

Blogger Spotlight: Gabifresh

Gabifresh is a blog that showcases blogger Gabi's love for writing and fashion. Gabi knew there was a lack of resources for younger women sizes 14 and up that love the latest trends so she decided she wanted to fill that void!

Gabi loves to throw any "fashion rules" out the window and in her blog she shares her own fashion advice in hope that she inspires others to take risks and have fun with fashion (regardless of their size!)

No matter if you're size 14 or up or 12 and below, we can all take a leaf out of Gabi's book! Dressing for your shape can be flattering and make you feel good, but under no way should anyone feel like they have to live by the notion of dressing for your shape. As they say, if you like it, wear it!

7 Things Non-Bloggers Don't Understand About Blogging

Can you remember a time when you weren't a blogger? It's hard isn't it, to remember exactly what it was like to be a non-blogger... Or even harder yet, to remember what it was like before you even stumbled across your first blog on the net!

It's so easy to get sucked up into the blogger world that it feels just exactly that, like it's another world! Because of this many bloggers tend to share their blog only in the blogging community, keeping it from the people they know in the real world because they know that there are certain things about blogging that they just wouldn't understand.

Well, here are 7 of those things...

1. Blogging is not always style over substance

So yes there are always exceptions, but in general bloggers tend to be quite a humble bunch! We may take more selfies than the average Joanne and like to have our own little photo shoot to show off our outfit of the day, but all in all, we aren't all that vain.

(Besides, there is no harm in thinking that you look pretty damn fine in that selfie, after all, it was most likely that you hated the other 99 you took!)

Blogging to some might look like just taking photos of yourself or talking about yourself, but for bloggers themselves it's mostly more about finding other people to connect with over similar interests. Blogging is a creative outlet that didn't exist before!

More often than not, once bloggers feel comfortable with sharing parts of their life online, they delve into personal issues that they may not have even discussed with people close to them in the non-blogging world. So yeh, we do talk about things with substance too!

2. Bloggers have plenty of "online" friendships

Tell a non-blogger you have a close friend but you have never met them and only talk to them on the internet and they might just bring up the TV program Catfish. Having friends online within the blogger community is perfectly normal for us lot, for non-bloggers though it can seem quite strange.

The thing is blogging is our passion and it takes up a lot of time in our lives and non-bloggers won't always get that you don't get bored spending hours on your laptop, but your blogger friends will!

Ah yes my friend went there -What friend? -Just a friend... (psst it was a blogger that counts right?)

3. Bloggers are confident online but awkward in real life, wut?

There are more than a handful of bloggers who have to deal with all sorts of social anxieties and struggle to make friends the old fashioned way, so for them getting to know people online through blogs and social media at your own pace and in the comfort of your home can be pretty ideal!

4. Blogging interferes with nearly every aspect of your life

Blogging changes how you live your life. Well, maybe nothing that dramatic, but it does in small ways that soon add up to a lot. Blogging not only gives you a new hobby, new friends and new work opportunities, it also gives you something to be passionate about and a community that shares that passion.

For those that are lucky enough, it can also change your career. Bloggers are never off-the-clock, if it's not thinking of blog ideas, it's social networking or responding to comments and emails! But we love it, it's our "thing" and everyone needs that something.

5. Blogging takes up a lot of time and can be hard work

To all those non-bloggers who think blogging looks easy, don't bother wasting too much time telling them that you spend hours over your blog learning everything from photography skills to HTML to SEO to social media management and the rest.

They really just aren't going to understand until they've taken 200 photos of their new lipstick and none of them look right.

6. Moments aren't ruined by taking a photo, they are made so much better

We think in pictures. Everywhere we go we see opportunities for pictures buzzing around us. You're touring around a new city with a friend and they sigh as you snap your 50th photo, but oh well, us bloggers love to share and happy photos trigger happy memories! We can enjoy the sunset and take photos too, we're clever like that ;)

7. Blogging is confidence boosting but also can be soul destroying too

You got that many likes for your selfie? That must give you so much confidence! Of course it does, it's such a lovely boost to have people compliment you and literally "like" your face. That confidence can spread in to the real life world too, but it's also easy to let yourself get sucked up into the blogging world. I may have got that many likes, but such-n-such got a thousand times more.

The blogging world has it's highs and lows. It can make you feel amazing but also that you aren't pretty or likable enough. When it gets to this point it's important to step outside of the blogging world and see that there is more value to you than a number of likes/followers/comments!

Get some perspective and remember, that although bloggers might take up 90% of your feed - that only makes up a teeny tiny percentage of the actual population!

Do you agree that non-bloggers struggle to understand us bloggers at times? What points would you add to our list?
